A license verification is required the first time you run QtiPlot. If you cancel this procedure QtiPlot exits. The license verification is a two steps process and needs a working internet connection. First you need to enter the e-mail address associated to your license in the dialog window below:
Figure 1-2. The first step of the license verification: providing the e-mail address linked to your license.
This address is, for example, the e-mail address linked to the PayPal account used to buy your QtiPlot license. Or an e-mail address hosted by an institution or company holding a valid QtiPlot group or campus license. This is the case, for example, if you're a student or you work at one of the many academic institutions using QtiPlot.
Using this e-mail address QtiPlot verifies if you hold a valid license. If it is not the case, QtiPlot displays an error message and exits.
If your license is valid, a message entitled QtiPlot verification code is sent to the e-mail address you provided. This message contains a verification code valid for 30 minutes. You need to check your inbox and if you do not find this message, also your spam folder.
If you have just downloaded and installed QtiPlot you must use the same verification code that you received during the two steps authentication process required to download the installation file.
The second step of the verification process requires you to type or copy/paste the six digits code received by e-mail into the dialog window below:
Figure 1-3. The second step of the license verification: providing the verification code received by e-mail.
Once you enter this code and press the OK button, QtiPlot displays a success message and the verification process ends. Please note that you need to follow this verification procedure on every computer on which you want to use QtiPlot.
